Skin Resurfacing
Skin resurfacing is a safe and popular, non-invasive cosmetic procedure that can be performed alone or in combination with other surgical procedures. The procedure can be performed using a chemical peel or CO2 Laser to resurface the skin with impressive results either way. Skin resurfacing aims to improve skin tightness, fine lines, freckles, sunspots, scars and other small imperfection by stimulating the generation of new cells and more production of collagen and elastin. Certain skin resurfacing types may work better for different people depending on your specific skin tone. Regardless, everyone should prepare their skin for 3 to 6 weeks before the procedure to minimize the risk of increased pigmentation or sometimes white spots after surgery. Recovery:
Downtime for this procedure is usually 10-14 days depending on the depth of peel necessary. Initially your face will very red with minor discomfort similar to a sun burn. Gradually the top layer of skin will peel off on it’s own and the new skin surface will be visible in 1 to 2 weeks. You will be instructed on specific skin care regiment throughout each stage of your healing process. Your face will maintain a slightly reddish hue for 6-12 weeks as you continue to heal. However, by week 2 you are usually able to begin wearing make-up that easily masks the subtle redness of your face.
